Somatic Experiencing Therapy

I use Somatic Experiencing (SE), a technique developed by Dr. Peter Levine as means for trauma resolution. Trauma in this context is defined as nervous system overwhelm, which can happen during any range of life experience and is not limited to what many of us have learned qualifies as "Trauma." SE works to restore the body's natural means of feeling and moving through the energy dispelled during and after overwhelming experiences. While focusing on body sensation, it also incorporates images, behaviors, affect and meaning into the healing process.

Gender Affirming Surgery Letter Writing

I meet with folks who need a letter from a mental health professional supporting their candidacy for a gender affirming surgery. As a trans person myself, it is my goal to minimize the barrier to you getting access to whatever medical procedure you need. I will need to meet with you one time for a maximum of 50 minutes. During this time period, I will ask you specific questions for the purpose of collecting the information to write the letter. Questions include: basics about your gender identity and journey, mental health, support system and self-care. If you have specific information you need in the letter as dictated by either your insurance company or your surgeon, please have this readily available at your appointment. If you already have a surgeon/s in mind, please come the appointment with their name and address information so that I can add this to the letter. The fee for this service is $70-$100, sliding scale. Please contact me directly if this is not affordable.

Supervision
I offer supervision and/or consultation to clinicians who wish to grow in their practice in working with trauma (acute and complex); working with queer, trans and non-binary folks; with white clinicians working toward increasing their window of tolerance to incorporate anti-racist and anti-oppression practices; and integrating somatic practice into psychotherapy.
